CHANGCHUN – Only ten weeks to go until fireworks hit the sky and the celebrations kick off for the 10th anniversary of Vasaloppet China, the biggest cross-country skiing event in Asia. An occasion that merits the presence AND participation of many an olympic, world and regional champion. This week, Nordic Ways Vasa is proud to announce that Sven-Ake Lundbak, and his wife Lena Carlzon-Lundback, as well as Bernt Johansson, will come to Changchun and be part of what will be an unforgettable Vasa experience this winter.

Sven-Ake Lundback won olympic gold in the 15km men’s cross country skiing at the Sapporo Olympics in 1972, and also became world champion on the 50km in Finland six years later. He also won the famous Holmenkollen 50k race in 1976. Bernt Johansson (photo) is one of Sweden’s best-known cyclists, courtesy of his victory in the olympic road race at the Munich Olympics in 1972. Johansson also took several world, regional and national titles during his cycling career. As a professional, Johansson took two stage wins in the 1979 Giro d’ Italia and a 3rd place in the final classification. He also finished second in the 1978 classic Giro di Lombardia, one of the five big ‘monuments’ of cycling, and third in the 1979 Fleche Wallonne, another major one-day classic. At Vasaloppet China, Johansson is reported to be in training for the full distance of 50k on the 2nd of January!

In the forthcoming weeks, more stars from the sports and entertainment world will confirm their travel to Changchun for the 10th anniversary event.
