The new track for Vasaloppet 2014 has just been published!Compared to previous years track some changes have been made.On the track for 2014 we have cancelled dangerous slopes and also removed the long stretches on the lake, this means that the track is less exposed to the wind. The representatives from both Nordic Ways and Vasaloppet Museum in Changchun, China paid a visit last Tuesday on Oct.12th to “The Dalarna Idrottsmuseum”– a regional sport museum of Falun, Dalarna in order to see whether the museum can donate some relevant ski equipments to Vasaloppet Museum Changchun, which will officially have its opening ceremony on Jan.2nd, 2011.

With the Ridderrennet China 2010 held successfully again, organized by the Norwegian Embassy , Changchun Government, Handicapped Association of Jilin Province and Nordic Ways as co-organizers with around 200 disabled from China and abroad. Two Chinese athletes Jiaqi Yang and Jianhui Liu have got the chance to take part in the “47th Ridderrennet Norway 2010” held in Beitostolen, Norway. Both of them have made a great ending in the cross country ski. More than this, they have also experienced a lot.
On the heels of the finishing of the Cross Country Season in Jingyue Park, the Vasaloppet China Museum Construction Work is right on the road. Both the original Vasaloppet event in Sweden and the Eight-year Vasaloppet China History will be exhibited in this grand museum.

A few weeks has passed since Vasaloppet China, but some participants will always cherish it as a memory for life. Ola Sahlen, working in Beijing had invited his two cousins Annika and Ulrika and their children to go together to Vasaloppet China. Setting out from Beijing by train on New Years day, arriving in Changchun on the night before the race, here is some of what the Sahlens had to say about the event.
Changchun in northern China is about to establish itself as the furthermost winter sports city in the country, this owing a great deal to the establishing of Vasaloppet China and Ridderrennet China. This season, the 7 million city has also organized World Cup races in Short Track, Freestyle and Bordercross. The cross country world cup sprint finals was held on the biggest football stadium in Changchun in 2006 and it also has a World Cup race in Jingyuetan Park in 2007. (more…)
The 8th Vasaloppet China started on a chilly morning in about 20 minus degrees and was won about 2 and a half hours later by Chinese elite skier Xia Wan, this is the first time the race has had a male winner in the 50km class. All four top positions were actually taken by Chinese skiers with the best foreigner being Swedish Gustav Hall on 5th place. Then followed another long line of Chinese down to the 2nd foreigner Kjetil Hagvedt Dammen on 14th place.
Today on the first day of this new decade, about 200 disabled from China and Norway took part in the cross country ski competition Ridderrennet China, the sister event to the Norwegian Ridderrennet which has been held every year in Beitostolen since 1964.
The preparations for Chinas only cross country ski festival are fully underway in Changchun. The ski tracks are being groomed in Jingyuetan Park and work on this year’s main Vasa snow sculpture has begun. The equipment storage at the arena is fully loaded with skis, poles and shoes for the students and amateurs taking part.
The search for 2010 years Vasaloppet Chinas ”Vasa Snow Angel” is now over. 20 university girls from Changchun were in the final of Vasa Snow Angel held at Changchun TV Station on Dec 18.
Vasaloppet China is getting closer and there are a lot of expectant amateur skiers from Scandinavia waiting to come to Changchun for the longest running cross-country ski race in China. Among the Swedish amateur skiers coming to China during New Year there are some who has got a very special relationship to Vasaloppet – the oldest, longest and biggest long distance cross country ski race in the world.
